A deposition from messaging company Infobip names the Republican Women Caucus Fund and an individual, John Braun, as the senders of text messages that referenced materials for LGBTQ+ youth. The deposition was ordered made non-confidential by a Travis County judge. It did not include any information about Braun beyond his name.
A spokesperson for the Republican Women's Caucus Fund said the group had "absolutely no involvement" in sending the texts or similar mailers sent to Texas homes. The spokesperson said the group did not authorize, fund, direct, coordinate or take part in the activities and called the allegations false. The group said it is pursuing legal remedies.
The Transgender Education Network of Texas, or TENT, shared the deposition with The Texas Tribune. TENT had petitioned the judge to require Infobip to reveal the identity of its client. The texts linked to TENT's website, including guides on bathrooms and gender-affirming care. TENT said it received immediate backlash, including threats of violence. Days later, mailers from the Texas Transgender Student Union began arriving in Texas mailboxes.
