Houston Airports has announced six improvement projects at George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport. The projects focus on upgrading technology, adding capacity and reducing common travel frustrations.

At Bush, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has confirmed that Global Entry walk-through technology will be installed in December. The system uses facial comparison to verify eligible travelers, so they will not need to stop at a traditional kiosk. Bush also plans to rebuild its cell-phone waiting lot with restrooms, food options and fuel services.

At Hobby, the nearly $500 million West Concourse expansion is moving forward. The project will add seven gates and is expected to begin opening in phases in early 2027. It also includes a new baggage-handling system and a covered walkway from the parking garage to the terminal.
