A 37-year-old man was shot and killed inside his home in the Houston area early Friday, according to investigators. They say his 17-year-old son is accused of firing the shot. The shooting happened around 1:18 a.m. in the 7700 block of Westbank, in the Carriage Lane area, Harris County Precinct 1 deputies said.
Investigators said an argument between the father and son may have led to the shooting. Authorities are still working to learn what happened beforehand, including who started the physical confrontation and whether either person was being assaulted. As of Friday morning, no decision had been made on whether the teen will face criminal charges, a Harris County Sheriff's Office sergeant said.
Deputies said the teenager left the home on foot and has not been found. Investigators want to locate him and hear his account. Authorities do not believe he poses a threat to the community. The Harris County Sheriff's Office is expected to lead the investigation.
