The Amarillo City Council voted on Tuesday to hire Rodney Rhoades as the city's interim city manager. Under his agreement, Rhoades will be paid $175 per hour for his services.
Rhoades has nearly 40 years of local government experience. His past positions include work with Travis County, Collin County, the North Texas Municipal Water District and the City of McKinney. He is also the founder of Rhoades Public Solutions, a public services consulting firm.
Rhoades will lead the city while the council searches for a permanent city manager. He replaces Andrew Freeman, who served as acting city manager.
