City staff are proposing a two-phase expansion of the Henry B. González Convention Center that would cost $850 million. That is about $100 million more than their previous estimate.
Staff also plan $125 million in work on the Alamodome over the next decade. City officials said a major overhaul of the Alamodome could follow, but they said the city cannot yet afford it. The convention center and Alamodome are key parts of Project Marvel, the city's plan for a downtown sports and entertainment district.
