Victoria County voters are choosing between Republican incumbent Treasurer Paige Foster and Democratic challenger Patricia Youngblood on Tuesday. Unofficial results will be updated as precincts report.

Foster has served as county treasurer since August 2022 and is seeking another term. She said she wants to keep modernizing the office, including increasing the number of county payments made by electronic funds transfer. She also named employee cross-training as a priority so staff can better help the county during natural disasters and other emergencies. Foster said the county has earned more than $4 million in interest during her tenure.

Youngblood, a Victoria native, is seeking her first elected office. She said she decided to run after looking for ways to become more involved in the community. Her background includes business, finance and health care work, as well as school district business management. According to the story, the treasurer serves as the county's chief custodian of finances, receiving and accounting for county money and reconciling bank statements.
