Democrat Vikki Goodwin is running against Republican incumbent Dan Patrick for Texas lieutenant governor. Patrick won his 2022 race against Mike Collier by about 10 points. Some 2026 polls have shown Goodwin with a slim lead, the story reports.
Patrick has served Texas for 20 years, including eight years in the Texas Senate and multiple terms as lieutenant governor since 2014. His campaign website lists priorities that include lower property and business taxes, border security and support for law enforcement. Goodwin is serving her fourth term in the Texas House, representing parts of Austin and the Lake Travis area. She was first elected in 2018.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polling locations are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters in line by 7 p.m. can still vote.
