Sugar Land officials provided updates on the $12.5 million project to modernize Town Square, which aims to attract businesses, residents and visitors. Business Development Manager Jennifer Alexander presented the update at a Nov. 3 meeting. The five-year agreement with Rebees, a commercial real estate company, covers two buildings and office tenant improvements.
Work on Building B, at 15958 City Walk, is valued at $5.13 million. Demolition is complete, and interior improvements are underway with an expected completion date of Nov. 11, Alexander said. Rebees also added a fitness center worth about $945,000 to the building, which has 415 memberships so far. City officials said Town Square has about 748 employees, above the goal of 650, with a milestone set for Nov. 30.
Renovations to the lobby, signage and garden at Building H, at 2150 Town Square Place, are also part of the agreement. Primoris Services Corp. is set to occupy the building. The City Walk landscape renovation was completed June 8. Alexander said the project is expected to bring $42 million in reinvestment. About 70% of retail and office space is currently in use. She said the upgrades are expected to slightly increase office use and bring retail close to full capacity.
