Dancers in brightly colored lehenga choli performed on a stage at Southlake Town Square on Saturday, Oct. 24, as part of the Southlake Foundation's annual DiwaliFest. Parents and grandparents watched the performances.

Diwali is one of the most important holidays observed by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists across Tarrant County and around the world, according to the report. The Old Farmer's Almanac lists the international holiday as mainly celebrated on Nov. 8.

Best friends Raghavi Danduboyina, 22, and Ria Singh, 21, have volunteered with the foundation since the festival began nine years ago. They served as emcees for this year's event. Singh said helping at the event was "a really full-circle moment."
