Police say Zachary Harper was charged Tuesday in the 2007 murder of his then-girlfriend, Yosheka Jarmon, at their northeast Houston apartment. Harper had already been in jail since April, when he was charged with the 2023 murder of Armin Mirazimi.
Her brother, Terance Jarmon, told Eyewitness News he found her body in a closet after neighbors called to report that her two young children were alone outside the apartment. Police said she had been strangled with an electrical cord and one of her arms had been slashed. Investigators said witnesses reported seeing a man matching Harper's description near the scene, and her car was later found near where Harper had been staying.
Terance Jarmon said Harper's behavior after the murder also made him suspect. He said police did not have enough evidence to charge Harper at the time, citing mixed fingerprints. He said Harper's April arrest led detectives to take another look at the case and complete more evidence testing. Records show Harper has at least five criminal charges from the years after the murder. Police said he had been violent toward Yosheka Jarmon before she was killed.
Harper was denied bond and remains in the Harris County Jail. His listed attorney did not return a request for comment.
