Clenard Parker pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a deadly crash into a Department of Public Safety driver's license office near Brenham, according to the Washington County District Attorney's Office. Under the deal, Parker will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole and will not face the death penalty. Court records confirm the plea.
Prosecutors said that in April 2024, Parker was a commercial truck driver who was upset that his commercial driver's license had not been renewed. They said the next day he took an 18-wheeler from a gas station in Chappel Hill and drove it into the DPS office on State Highway 290 near Brenham. Authorities said two people died and about a dozen were injured.
Officials said Parker was arrested and charged in multiple cases, including capital murder. His bond was set in the millions of dollars.
