The Elgin Independent School District Board of Trustees delayed a decision on Superintendent Christopher Bailey's future on Thursday. Trustees met in closed session on Nov. 5 to discuss Bailey's employment and consult with legal counsel. Afterward, they said no further action would be taken at this time.
In a statement, trustees said the board had reviewed the facts surrounding Bailey's actions. The statement said Bailey takes the matter seriously and is taking steps to address the situation.
Bailey, 47, was arrested Oct. 29 while traveling home from Austin. He was later released from the Travis County Jail on a $4,000 bond. The board did not announce any disciplinary action and did not say whether the matter would be discussed at a later meeting.
