Overnight construction is scheduled at the US 87 and FM 41 interchange in Lubbock next week. According to a news release, FM 41 at US 87 will close to traffic Monday night, Nov. 2, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. so crews can place the deck on the new bridge. Traffic in both directions will be detoured around the area. The road is expected to reopen by 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Starting Monday, segments of the US 87 frontage road within the project limits will be reduced to one lane. The inside frontage road lanes on both the north and southbound frontage roads will be closed. The release said the lane reductions will let crews continue work on the new bridge retaining walls, place curb and gutter, and do more concrete work.
The release said all work will take place weather permitting. It is part of a safety project to build a new bridge at the US 87 and FM 41 intersection.
