The Spearman ISD Board of Trustees has named Ronni LeeAnn McGraw as the lone finalist for superintendent of schools. The board said the search included community and staff input.
The board ran a districtwide survey asking staff, families and community members which leadership qualities mattered most. More than 160 people took part. Respondents said they value the district's community culture and traditions. They want a superintendent who communicates openly, supports staff, manages resources responsibly and is visible and engaged with students, staff and the community.
The board said McGraw reflects those qualities, including a commitment to high academic expectations and continuous improvement in student outcomes. McGraw began teaching at Center Middle School in Center ISD in 2007. She later worked in Pecos as a principal and then served as principal at McCamey Middle School. She most recently was superintendent of Sierra Blanca ISD. The release said she has 19 years in public education, including six as a campus principal and three and a half as a superintendent.
Board President Dustin Mackie said he was proud of the board's work. "We worked together to ensure the voices of our staff and community were heard," he said. He said he is confident McGraw has the leadership and vision to move the district forward.
