Comal County has lifted the burn ban for unincorporated areas such as Canyon Lake, according to a report from My Canyon Lake. High winds are expected today and Tuesday as a cold front moves through the area.

Under Texas Commission on Environmental Quality rules, burning is illegal if winds are forecast to exceed 23 mph. County spokesperson Cary Zayas said in a statement that a fire can get out of control quickly in windy conditions, putting people and property at risk. Zayas also said people could face criminal charges if a fire causes injuries or property damage.
