A Learjet 60 that crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday was registered to an LLC based in Wilmington, Delaware, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on X that the crash happened at 12:50 p.m. The jet crashed into a mobile home park.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane left Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed to the Bahamas. Authorities did not immediately say what caused the crash or who was on board. Air traffic control recordings and flight tracking data show the pilots reported turbulence, icing and precipitation at 35,000 feet and asked to climb. The plane then entered a steep dive that exceeded its design limits. In a radio call, a pilot said the plane was in an overspeed condition and that it was going to crash.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said there were no immediate reports of anyone on the ground being injured or killed. Palm Beach County said the road near the crash site will remain closed until further notice. The FAA will assist the National Transportation Safety Board with its investigation. A media briefing is scheduled for Monday in West Palm Beach.
