Travis County District Judge Jan Soifer late Tuesday ordered depositions, to be taken under oath later this week, from a representative of the Texas Transgender Student Union. The group was registered last month in Wyoming, and its mailing address is linked to a post office box in Houston, according to the court filing.
The Transgender Education Network of Texas, known as TENT, requested the deposition. TENT said the mailers were worded to appear to come from TENT, and that the mailers led to a backlash that included threats of violence.
TENT is also seeking to identify the sender of text messages that linked to TENT's website but did not come from the organization.
