On Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. at the San Marcos Public Library, LifeLong Learning-San Marcos will present on the San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance. The talk closes the group's "What Makes San Marcos, San Marcos" series. Jon Cradit, president of the Alliance, will speak about its work building and maintaining natural areas and hike-and-bike trails.
Cradit said the nonprofit was established 27 years ago to get families outdoors. He said the group helps the city's Parks Department with ongoing maintenance and with cleanup after storms, and it teaches people about the river, the aquifer and nature at community events and schools. LifeLong Learning founder and senior adviser Marianne Reese said the group's work helps preserve natural areas in San Marcos.
On Thursday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m. at the library, Becky Duval Reese will share her memories of artist Tom Lea. The talk is part of LifeLong Learning's "Potpourri of Presentations." Duval Reese served as director of the El Paso Museum of Art from 1991 to 2005. Registration is appreciated for room setup. Details are available at LLLsanmarcos.org.
