More than 1 million people voted early in Harris County, according to ABC13 Houston. The 1,081,010 early votes are nearly four in ten registered voters and almost equal the county's total ballots in 2022. Friday was the busiest of the 12 early voting days. Fort Bend and Montgomery counties also set records. The statewide count had passed 6.8 million before most counties reported their final early voting day.
ABC13 matched county early-vote rosters with precinct results from 2022 and 2024. It found early voting across neighborhoods that backed different candidates, with the reddest and bluest precincts both showing large turnout. The station said early voters in Harris County split in line with the full county in 2022 and 2024.
Compared with the same point in 2018, Harris County's early vote is up about 25%. Dallas, Tarrant and Bexar counties are up by double digits. Fort Bend, Montgomery, Williamson and Denton counties are up more, and Hidalgo County is up nearly 50%. ABC13 also noted that Texas polls missed the final statewide results by three to five points in each of the last three statewide elections.
