Election Day for the 2026 midterm election is Nov. 3. Polls are open statewide from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters who are in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote. Some Houston-area counties let voters cast ballots at any polling location in their jurisdiction, while others require voters to vote at their home precincts. Harris County allows voting at any of its more than 600 polling locations on Election Day.

Voters should bring photo identification or other materials that confirm their identity and right to vote. Sample ballots and handwritten notes are also allowed. Phones, tablets, laptops, cameras and other devices that can communicate wirelessly or record sound or images are not allowed inside a polling location or within 100 feet of one. Signs or literature about candidates, parties or ballot measures are not allowed within that 100-foot space. Texas law also bars clothing and other apparel related to items on the current ballot.

Harris County had more than one million in-person early votes, according to the Harris County Clerk's Office. The county recorded 1,036,349 early in-person ballots from Oct. 19 to 30, breaking its previous midterm record of 766,613 set in 2018. The Harris County Voter Registrar reports 2,761,272 registered voters in the county. Registered voters can cast provisional ballots without an ID, but must follow up after voting.
