The Graham Steers have not missed the football playoffs since 2008, according to the Graham Leader. Since then, the team has won 10 district championships and gone 30-16 in the postseason. Last season the Steers finished 9-4 and advanced three rounds in the Class 4A Division II playoffs.

The team returns 10 offensive and three defensive starters. Senior Cooper Corley moves into the quarterback position after playing defense last season. Head coach Clay McChristian said Corley played quarterback in seventh through ninth grades. Corley did not throw a pass last season but ran for 43 yards on four carries.

Dave Campbell's Texas Football rated the Steers' offensive line as the best in Class 4A before the season. McChristian said the line must live up to that rating. Senior offensive lineman Tyson Louder was named preseason all-state. The Steers enter the season ranked No. 12 in the state in Class 4A.
