South Hi Mount Elementary students and staff are temporarily moving to the vacant Western Hills Primary building at 8300 Mojave Trail in Fort Worth. The move follows an on-site engineering assessment that raised concern about the school's current building, according to the district. Officials relocated students and staff as a precaution and cleared the affected section of the building, a message to families said. Officials did not provide specific details about the engineering concerns.

Principal Dr. Elizabeth Foreman White said the new location has the space the elementary school needs. The district changed the school calendar to allow time for the move. Friday, Nov. 20 and Monday, Nov. 30 will be student holidays. Students are scheduled to return to classes at the Western Hills Primary building on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

In a message to parents, White said she understands the news may raise questions and concerns. She said the school's focus remains on giving students a consistent and welcoming learning experience during the transition. The school will hold a parent meeting on Monday, Nov. 9, at 5:30 p.m. in the South Hi Mount Elementary cafeteria to answer questions.
