State Rep. Eddie Morales Jr. of Eagle Pass said he supports Rep. Senfronia Thompson for speaker of the Texas House. He announced the endorsement on X on Friday, Nov. 6.
Morales had announced his own run for speaker on Thursday, Nov. 5, when he said he had officially filed. In his post, he said he had full confidence that the needs of rural and border communities would be met under Thompson's speakership, after a conversation with her and her team.
Morales also wrote that Texans had delivered a mandate for change and that the Texas House Democratic Caucus is united heading into the 90th Legislative Session. The endorsement comes as Democrats prepare to lead the chamber for the first time in more than two decades, according to the report.
