The Pearland Police Department said a 35-year-old man, Shane Chambers, was shot early Sunday morning, around 5 a.m., at an apartment complex on Business Center Drive near SH 288 and Magnolia Road. Officers responded to reports of a disturbance near the complex's swimming pool. They tried life-saving measures, but Chambers died at the scene.
Investigators said 32-year-old Jamica Delance Scott went to his ex-girlfriend's apartment, which started the disturbance. Police said two men inside the apartment jumped from a second-story balcony to escape. Police said Scott then went downstairs and allegedly shot Chambers. Officers stopped the vehicle Scott got into and detained all four occupants.
Jamica Delance Scott, 30-year-old Jamon Delance Scott and 35-year-old James Undra Cooper Jr. were each charged with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and burglary of a habitation to commit a felony. Shanel Janaye Carter, 32, was charged with murder as a party to the offense and burglary of a habitation to commit a felony. The investigation is ongoing.
