Workforce Solutions East Texas will host the region's largest hiring event of the year on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Tyler Workforce Center, 1421 S. Beckham. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public. An opening ceremony honoring veterans starts at 9:30 a.m.
The event is part of the Texas Workforce Commission's 15th annual Hiring Red, White & You! statewide veterans job fair. More than 100 employers are expected to take part. They plan to offer jobs to veterans, transitioning service members, military spouses and other job seekers.
Doug Shryock, executive director of Workforce Solutions East Texas, said local employers should hear from veterans who are looking for work. Gov. Greg Abbott said more than 1.4 million veterans live in Texas. The commission is holding nearly 30 hiring events across the state from Nov. 2 to Nov. 20.
