Elon Musk spent at least $445 million to help Republicans keep control of Congress, according to The Associated Press. On Tuesday night, Republicans lost control of Congress to Democrats, who have said they want to examine Musk's companies and his work at the Department of Government Efficiency.

Musk spent at least $5 million to help reelect Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who lost. The AP reports that Musk's spending effectively benefited Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, by $158 million. Paxton lost his U.S. Senate race to Democrat James Talarico.

The AP says the Texas result was the first statewide win for Democrats in Texas in more than 30 years. Democrats in Congress have said they may subpoena Musk or open investigations. Musk posted on X that his election-related efforts had not worked this time.
