Police in Port Aransas say they believe a former prosecutor's death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot.
Police believe a self-inflicted gunshot caused the death of former 38th Judicial District prosecutor Erin Benavides, 54. Her body was found in a Port Aransas home on Oct. 14.
Officers went to the home after receiving a request for a wellness check, according to a report by the Uvalde Leader-News.
