Catholic Charities of Laredo and the Medical Missionaries of Divine Mercy are holding their 16th annual medical mission at San Luis Rey Church in Laredo this week. Professionals are offering free checkups, dental care, vision care and flu shots.
Organizers said cost keeps many people from seeing a doctor. Rebecca Solloa, executive director of Catholic Charities of Laredo, said the community should take advantage of the event. "Medical care is so expensive," she said. "And if you don't have insurance, you don't have a way to get some care, this is the time to do it."
The clinic is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Monday, Nov. 9. Preregistration is welcome, and walk-ins are also accepted.
