Deputies were called to a home in the 21400 block of Sagrantino Court in west Harris County around 3:45 a.m. on May 5, 2026, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Deputies found 35-year-old Samson Hernandez unresponsive. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said Hernandez had been in an altercation with his wife's boyfriend. During the confrontation, Hernandez's 15-year-old son stepped in and put his father in a chokehold until law enforcement arrived. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators went to the home.
Detectives presented their findings to the Harris County District Attorney's Office, which later approved a murder charge against the teenager. He was booked into the Harris County Juvenile Center without incident. The investigation is ongoing.
