The first concrete pier for the Kim & Dade Phelan Behavioral Sciences Center was poured Tuesday afternoon in Beaumont. State Rep. Dade Phelan helped start the pour. The facility is on Fannin Street and will add to services provided by Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas.
The project adds 62,840 square feet and 36 patient rooms, creating a 94,000-square-foot, three-story treatment hospital, according to the project team. H.B. Neild Construction is the general contractor. Ronnie Jones and Architectural Alliance designed the building. The builders said work will not interrupt the current facility's day-to-day services.
Taylor Neild Sr., CEO of H.B. Neild Construction, said safety is the most important priority and that every precaution is being taken at the site. David LeMonte, CEO of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, thanked Phelan for securing $70 million in state funding for the project.
