Orange police were dispatched to a crash in the 2400 block of North 16th Street at about 9:11 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22. Police said a black BMW was traveling northbound in the right lane when a Toyota Highlander attempting a left turn into a private driveway from the center turn lane was involved in the collision.
Maria Zepeda, 58, of Orange, a passenger in the Toyota Highlander, was ejected from the vehicle, police said. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The Highlander's driver was also taken to the hospital with apparent injuries. The BMW's driver was treated at the scene by Acadian Ambulance personnel and was not taken to a hospital.
Police said everyone involved and several witnesses have cooperated with investigators. The Detective Division of the Orange Police Department is continuing the investigation. No further information was available.
