The Olney Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting on Oct. 19 for Wagner Nursery, a day care center on Springcreek Road. Owner Paxton Wagner converted a former Head Start building into the center, which serves children from infants to preschoolers. Families toured the facility before the ceremony.

Chamber Executive Director Kimberly Smith said Olney parents have needed this kind of service for years. The center can accommodate up to 48 children, and about 15 were enrolled as of the previous week. Children will be grouped by age and developmental stage. Full-time tuition is $185 per week, and the center plans to be open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Ms. Wagner said the center would hold an open house on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Before opening, the facility needed state licensing approval. Ms. Wagner said fire and health inspections were being completed and would be submitted to state licensing officials. She said she hoped to open Oct. 22, but that Oct. 26 was a more certain date if the final license was issued.
