About 25 residents attended an Oct. 29 town hall at the Bowie community center about a new emergency transportation plan for residential utility customers in the City of Bowie. Will Winters of MASA discussed the plan.
The plan would be paid for through a $7.75 fee on the city utility bill. Every meter is automatically enrolled, but customers can opt out by filling out a form on the city website or at the city finance office. The deadline to opt out is Nov. 11, and the fee takes effect Dec. 1.
According to the report, customers who opt out within the first 90 days qualify for a full bill credit refund. After 90 days, previously paid fees are non-refundable. A process to opt out at a later time is also in effect.
