Odessa High lost to El Paso Franklin 3-1 in a Class 6A Division I bi-district playoff game at OHS Fieldhouse on Thursday. Franklin won the sets 25-21, 23-25, 26-24 and 25-23. Odessa High finished its season at 19-17, and Franklin improved to 24-15.
It was the Lady Bronchos' first playoff game in 16 years. Head coach Cody Dominguez said the team had accomplished something no other Odessa High team had done in that span. "I'm proud of them. I'm proud that we were able to get this far," Dominguez said.
Franklin coach Sylvia Sandoval said the Odessa High crowd and team made the game difficult. "Our kids kept battling through and earning point by point," Sandoval said.
