The Jasper County Sheriff's Office and the Jasper County District Attorney's Office announced that Nathan Paul Woods, 63, of Buna, was found guilty of five counts of sexual assault of a child. He was sentenced to a total of 137 years in prison. The sentencing took place on Thursday, according to the announcement.
The charges came from an investigation by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office into incidents that occurred in 2022 and 2023 in Buna. The case involved a juvenile victim. Sheriff Chuck Havard said, "We will not allow anyone being harmed in our community, especially our children. We will do everything possible to hold individuals like Woods accountable to the fullest extent of the law."
