Tesla will wind down production of its Cybertruck at Gigafactory Texas around the middle of next year, Chief Executive Elon Musk said in a social media post. He said the change will make room for increased production of the Cybercab. The Texas plant is the only location where the Cybertruck is made.
Tesla does not report sales by model. Kelley Blue Book estimated that Cybertruck sales fell 48% from 2024 to 2025. It said sales from January through September of this year were down 28%. The vehicle also had quality-control issues and several recalls within months of its debut.
The story also said the Cybertruck's unusual design made it a political symbol as Musk aligned himself with President Donald Trump and some right-leaning causes. European sales of Tesla vehicles fell 49% in the first two months of 2025, even as overall electric vehicle sales grew.
