The Wise County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Paula Blancas-Espinosa, 36, of Fort Worth, on a murder charge. Investigators connected her to the death of Jorge Sosa-Vargas, 26, also of Fort Worth. A passerby found Sosa-Vargas's body along Hickory Street in southeast Wise County around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to Chief Deputy Eric Debus. Debus said investigators determined the death was not from natural causes.
According to the sheriff's office, an investigation with help from the Texas Rangers found the incident stemmed from a domestic situation and appears to be isolated. A probable cause arrest affidavit released Thursday says investigators went to Sosa-Vargas's home in Justin after identifying him and found Blancas-Espinosa, who told them she was responsible for his death.
The affidavit says Blancas-Espinosa drove Sosa-Vargas to the location under the pretext of discussing their problems. She then led investigators to a convenience store in Justin, where she said she threw away the knife. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage to verify the information. Bond has been set at $500,000, according to Wise County Jail records.
