Personnel records obtained by ABC13 show former Harris County sheriff's deputy Dohnya Dozier was fired earlier this year after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her while he was responding to a call for help. The woman, Avery Daniel, said the incident happened on Nov. 18, 2025, after she called 911 from a hotel on FM 1960 following an assault by her fiancé. According to the records, Dozier arrested the fiancé and later went to the hospital where Daniel was treated.
According to investigative records, Daniel told authorities that Dozier assaulted her after he drove her back to her hotel. Investigators concluded Dozier returned to the hotel the next day and tried to keep Daniel from reporting the incident. After she reported it, Dozier was moved from patrol to fleet services. The records also say he later tried to retrieve security video from the hotel and was unsuccessful.
Weeks after his termination, Dozier was arrested and charged in a separate criminal case with attempted sexual assault and official oppression. He has not been charged with a crime related to the sexual assault described in the personnel file. The Harris County Sheriff's Office and the FBI say they are still investigating and are looking for additional victims.
