The Houston Comets unveiled their new logo for the 2027 WNBA season on Thursday at POST Houston. The team also explained the meaning behind the design.
Gretchen Sheirr, President of Business Operations for the Houston Rockets and Comets, said the moment is a landmark for the team, the city and women's sports. She said the franchise helped define the league's early years and that the new identity honors that championship history. Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta bought the Connecticut Sun in March. The team will relocate to Houston and resume play as the Comets with the upcoming season. The Comets won four WNBA championships from 1997 to 2000 and were one of the league's eight original teams.
Fans can shop the new merchandise at a Houston Comets pop-up store at the George R. Brown Convention Center from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1.
