Argyle ISD is interviewing candidates to be the first principal of Legacy High School, Superintendent Dr. Courtney Carpenter said Tuesday. According to Carpenter, a recommendation is expected at the board of trustees meeting on Monday, Nov. 16. The campus is expected to open in fall 2027.
After the principal is recommended, the district will begin recruiting for athletics and fine arts leadership positions. Carpenter said these roles are vital to starting the full staffing process when next semester begins.
Carpenter also said she plans to leave the district at the end of the fall semester. She was recently named the lone finalist for superintendent at Glen Rose ISD. The district's decision to open a new high school, its land purchases and the timing of the superintendent's departure, which followed a board meeting in October where a board member resigned abruptly, have drawn criticism.
