Lewisville firefighters were called Tuesday to help a cat that was stuck deep inside the engine compartment of a Tesla, the Lewisville Fire Department said in a social media post. According to officials, crews had to take apart the car's undercarriage piece by piece to reach the animal, later identified as Sakura. About 40 minutes later, crews were able to access the area where she was hiding and pull her out.
The cat's family had been searching for her for about three hours. The department said the family was about to drive off to keep looking when they heard a faint meow nearby. The department said Sakura was safe and back with her family.
The department praised its crew for being patient and for working carefully around the car's mechanical parts to retrieve the cat.
