Northeast Texas Community College has completed the Yaskawa Motoman Endorsed Robotics Instructor Training (MERIT) Program and is now a certified training center. The college can offer YRC1000 Basic Programming and Basic Programming with Material Handling, according to the announcement.

Yaskawa Academy developed the MERIT Program to help schools teach the robotics curriculum taught by Yaskawa's certified instructors. Participating schools receive knowledge, instructional resources and ongoing support, the company said.

Kevin Frost, Director of Industrial Technology and Training at the college, said grant funding and growth in local industries led the college to partner with Yaskawa. Frost also named Priefert Manufacturing and other local companies that are exploring robotics. The college said the program gives companies a training option closer to home.
