Federal authorities and the Dallas Police Department said they arrested David Yancy, 31, one of the suspects in the Halloween night shootings in Deep Ellum. Those shootings killed four people and injured at least 15, officials said. U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould and Dallas Police Chief David Comeaux announced the arrest at a news conference Thursday.
Yancy is in jail and faces seven counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the officials said. He also had an outstanding warrant and will be charged federally as a felon in possession of a firearm. Officials said he turned himself in within 30 minutes of the FOX 4 segment "Trackdown" airing on Wednesday. The segment, hosted by Shaun Rabb, showed photos and security video from around 1 a.m. on the night of the shootings. The footage showed a man in a camouflaged hoodie in the 2600 block of Main Street.
Comeaux said members of the community saw the segment, spoke with the suspect, and he turned himself in. He urged anyone involved in the other shootings to come talk to police first, saying investigators already have video and pictures.
