Día de los Muertos was celebrated on the Square in San Marcos on Friday, Oct. 23, during Downtown SMTX's Spirit Squared event.
A community ofrenda stretched across the entrance to the Hays County Historic Courthouse. People could add photos and offerings to honor loved ones who had died. Michelle Sotolongo painted sugar skulls on attendees' faces, including those who had not dressed for the event.
Los Gatos 512 opened the event with a cumbia set. The night ended with a screening of The Addams Family, and the Visit SMTX team provided popcorn.
