The Weslaco Police Department is investigating the deaths of two Weslaco firefighters. The department said the deaths happened Wednesday morning during what it described as an off-duty incident.

In a statement shared with MyRGV.com, the department said it was deeply saddened by the deaths. The police and fire departments are both investigating the incident.

A department representative said no further details will be released for now because the investigation is ongoing and out of respect for the families involved.
