U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Veterans International Bridge in Brownsville seized alleged cocaine with an estimated street value of $611,680, according to a press release from the agency.
On Oct. 21, officers sent a 2005 International truck with an attached flatbed to secondary inspection. The driver was a 39-year-old Mexican citizen from Matamoros, Tamaulipas. After a non-intrusive inspection system detected anomalies in the vehicle, officers with a K-9 unit found 20 hidden packages. The packages weighed just under 46 pounds in total.
Brownsville Port Director Tater Ortiz said in the release that officers continue to work to intercept dangerous narcotics and disrupt criminal networks.
