A clinical trial center at the Walmart on State Highway 64 West in Tyler is offering health screenings and information about taking part in medical research. The center is run through a partnership between Walmart and Care Access. It is one of four initial locations, along with sites in Houston; Dalton, Georgia; and Brandon, Florida.
The Walmart Healthcare Research Institute and Care Access said they plan to open three more centers in the first half of 2027, in Livonia, Michigan; Las Vegas; and San Antonio. The centers are meant to reduce barriers such as having to travel to study sites or navigate unfamiliar processes.
Care Access staff offer chances to join clinical trials, health screenings to assess risk factors and one-on-one consultations. Screenings may include advanced blood biomarker testing, such as lipoprotein(a), or Lp(a), which the story says is associated with cardiovascular risk. Ahmad Namvargolian, CEO and co-founder of Care Access, said the locations are an important step in making clinical research accessible to all.
