State Rep. Eddie Morales Jr. of Eagle Pass has been projected to win reelection to Texas House District 74, according to the Associated Press. The Democrat received 27,135 votes, or 63.8 percent, with an estimated 81.66 percent of the vote counted.
Republican challenger Robert Garza received 15,426 votes, or 36.2 percent. Reported returns put Morales ahead by 11,709 votes, a margin of 27.6 percentage points.
The totals are unofficial and may change as more ballots are counted and election officials complete the canvass.
