Isabela Casahuga Lemgruber, 19, a student at the University of Texas at San Antonio, has released a video apology for a poem she recited at a September 23, 2026, campus event. The poem referred to the anniversary of Charlie Kirk's assassination as the "Kirkiversary." Video of the poem was shared online after the "Pick Up the Mic" event, which was hosted by Christian Collins.

In the video, Lemgruber apologized to Erika Kirk, Kirk's children and the Kirk family. She said her words were "deeply insensitive" given the family's loss. She also apologized to Collins. She said there is nothing acceptable about political violence and that she did not expect everyone to forgive her. She said her faith teaches humility, compassion and forgiveness, and that her words did not reflect those values.

Collins responded that he forgave her and had been praying for her. He encouraged her to "get her heart right with Jesus" and invited her to reach out to discuss the matter further.

UT San Antonio spokesman Joe Izbrand said the university is reviewing the circumstances through its student conduct process. He did not disclose any disciplinary action. In a joint statement, University of Texas System Board of Regents Chairman Kevin Eltife and Chancellor John Zerwas said the system will not tolerate the incitement of violence or the threat of it, and that UT San Antonio will handle the incident consistent with the law.
