The Denton County Sheriff's Office said its Communications Division received six awards at the DENCO 911 Banquet. The awards recognized leadership, teamwork, training, professionalism and service to the community.
Brittany Sparks, Communications Assistant Manager, was named Operations Professional of the Year. The office said she oversees daily operations, is the division's only EMD-Q-qualified staff member, helps with training and staffing, maintains CAD information and maps, and supports employee morale.
The Telecommunicator Team of the Year award went to a team of 11 telecommunicators. The office said the team worked during the September 21, 2025, severe weather event, when emergency call volume rose sharply after straight-line winds, structural damage and fires. The team worked with law enforcement, fire, EMS and nearby agencies.
Brandon Shields was named Supervisor of the Year. The office said he has completed more than 1,000 hours of training while working a radio channel and supervising his team.
